The Falcons are in the market for a pass rusher; that much is clear. Nearly every credible NFL insider has reported such.
Albert Breer first reported it. Yes,” Breer of Sports Illustrated responded to a question about whether the Falcons are in the market for a pass rusher. “They like what they’ve gotten in Matthew Judon. They’re very open to adding to what he’s brought to the table.”
Fellow NFL insider James Palmer shared similar sentiments. “I wouldn’t be surprised if Atlanta lands an edge. They are in the market looking for another piece because they know where they’re at right now. Keep an eye on them still looking at edge rushers. They already made one move right before the start of the season,” Palmer said.
It’s just a matter of who they’ll go after, and a target has emerged — Azeez Ojulari.
Dianna Russini reports that the Giants are shopping the Georgia product, and the Falcons are “keeping an eye” on him. The Athletic pundit adds the Cardinals and Bengals are also in the Azeez Ojulari market.
Fortunately, it seems Terry Fontenot is going to be insistent. According to Adam Schefter, the club has been “aggressive about making pass rush calls” and expected to pursue a trade for Ojulari.
With the Giants spinning their wheels and heavy investment in other pieces along the defensive front, an Azeez Ojulari trade seems likely. New York is 2-6 and has considerable resources tied up in Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, and Kayvon Thibodeaux.
Through eight games, Ojulari has six sacks. Grady Jarrett and Matt Judon are Atlanta’s sack leaders, and the veterans each boast 1.5 sacks. Suffice to say, Azeez Ojulari would be a tremendous addition to the Falcons pass rush.
