There has been no shortage of news today regarding the Falcons and the 4th overall pick. Chris Mortenson recently reported that general manager Terry Fontenot and Arthur Smith have differing opinions about how the Falcons should go about the draft. Fontenot would like to select his quarterback of the future, but Smith still believes Ryan has a few good years left and can lead the team back to the playoffs.
Thankfully, it doesn’t look like fans will have to wait until draft day to find out which direction the Falcons will go. With it being a foregone conclusion that the first three teams in the draft will select a quarterback, the Falcons are essentially on the clock right now and hold all of the cards, which is why teams are beginning to line up in an attempt to trade up with Atlanta. Adam Schefter just reported that several suitors have reached out and that the Falcons “are open to moving” the pick.
With teams locked into the first three overall picks, the Atlanta Falcons now have received trade calls from multiple teams and “are open to moving” out of the No. 4 spot, per source.

If the Falcons elect not to trade the pick, it looks like Trey Lance will be the guy, as Mortenson reported. Unless, of course, one of the teams in front of Atlanta is fond of Lance. However, if the Falcons aren’t set on one of the remaining quarterbacks in the class, it is just a matter of time before they pull the trigger on one of these trades. There are a ton of tantalizing offensive prospects that aren’t quarterbacks, but the value they can get in a trade-back from a quarterback-needy franchise will likely be too great to pass up.
