After a lengthy recruitment process and a decision between the Georgia Bulldogs and Oregon Ducks, five-star quarterback Jared Curtis has committed to Kirby Smart.

The top rated signal caller in the 2026 class first committed to the Dawgs on March 23 of last year, but Curtis decommitted some months later, citing the need to visit other schools.
The Tennessee product will likely enroll early this December and be the highest-rated QB signee for the Georgia program since Justin Fields committed to the hometown Dawgs in 2018, becoming the first five-star QB commit since Brock Vandagriff in 2021.
It’s not quite clear what role money played in the recruitment process, but Curtis was given an NIL evaluation by On3 of $2.7 million. Considering Phil Knight’s backing of Oregon, you’d have to think that Georgia made a competitive offer, but Curtis chose the Dawgs for football reasons.
Georgia’s top quarterback recruits over the years haven’t panned out for one reason or another. Jacob Eason transferred to Washington, Justin Fields transferred to Ohio State, and Vandagriff transferred to Kentucky. It was walk-on Stetson Bennett IV that led the Bulldogs to the national title, winning the championship twice.
Kirby Smart and Jared Curtis will attempt to put an end to that cycle of five-star players leaving the program.
