Trae Young, Dejounte Murray put out cryptic social media posts amid trade rumors

NBA: JAN 08 Hawks at Clippers

If it wasn’t enough for the Hawks to be embroiled in drama with Alex Sarr, who is rumored to not want to play in Atlanta, their All-Star point guards, Trae Young and Dejounte Murray, are making cryptic social media posts amid trade rumors.

First, it was Young, who tweeted the hourglass emoji following the news that the Lakers would be hiring J.J. Redick to be Los Angeles’ next head coach on Thursday.

Young has been linked to LA, but it’s been nothing more than conjecture. Still, it fueled Lakers and Hawks fans to conjure up ridiculous sentiments about Young wanting to play for Redick and the Lakers.

Murray, on the other hand, had an even more cryptic post that does have some semblance of relevance to a potential trade.

What is sending Hawks fans into a frenzy about this tweet is that on June 21, 2022, Dejounte Murray tweeted out something similar, four eyes emojis. Nine days later, he was traded to the Hawks. Nearly two years later, he once again posted the same set of emojis to his account on Friday but was quickly deleted.

Both are killers who thrive on their own but just don’t work best together. Hawks fans love both stars, but there really doesn’t seem like a scenario where the Hawks keep Dejounte Murray and Trae Young, so these cryptic tweets really shouldn’t mean all that much to fans. One is leaving via trade, and you can bet your bottom dollar on it.
